Marine “BATTERIES” are usually a Hybrid

Batteries for marine can be cross between a starter battery and a AGM battery.

Many companies sell a mixed range of products, ranging from Leisure batteries for the guy with a small boat “messing about on the river” to people who want to sail “round the World” , all need different types of batteries.
Most batteries sold here in the UK are a mixture of a starter battery and a deep cycle battery. They are often marked up in CA and MCA ratings (Marine Cranking Amps), where starter batteries are rated in CCA (Cold Cranking Amps) . But this can still be misleading and MCA batteries may or may not be true deep cycle batteries.
Lucas batteries make a leisure battery with single posts (one positive and one negative post) in different amperages, and a marine battery the same size with twin posts(two positive and two negative), the extra posts are to join extra batteries or other accessories. The batteries are guaranteed for two years these can be bought on batteriesonthewebonline batteries or our E-Bay shop with the same name,at cheap batteries, competitive prices.

The correct battery for long distance sailing would be an AGM battery,

this battery would be totally sealed and stop the chances of mixing with sea (salt) water, restricting the chances of creating poisonous gases if any acid escapes and mixes with the sea water.
In my opinion if you buy the battery from a reputable company, the battery will be guaranteed if a problem should arise, they are also a reasonable price, I think if you can afford you will be better buying an AGM battery.
