BATTERY Recall from Chinese BMW glitch

possible battery failure may cause the engine to stall

I did not realise the extent of BMWs involvement in car building in China. The name of the joint venture in China is “Brilliance Automotive .” This Chinese company sells Sedan cars under the name of BMW. The Chinese entered the venture with BMW in March 2003. Both companies agreed to make and build cars under a joint venture and sell the latest versions of the BMW models of branded cars. Most of the components and parts are manufactured in China. I suppose it comes as no surprise that Germany has got its feet under the table making BMWs in China.
Most of the worlds battery production comes from China and is made using German technology. All the part numbers on the batteries are for the German market, the Chinese don’t have a clue when you ask about British battery part numbers. I must admit though that the batteries are good quality and at a good price.

Going back to the faulty batteries,

BMW china have recalled 120,246 imported and home produced to fix problems with the cars batteries, according to the Chinese Administration. The battery recall affects mainly BMW 5 series sedans made from March 2003 to September 2010. In my opinion this will not affect BMW cars made in Europe.
